Martha's Vineyard Day Trip

May 29th, 2004

Zachary got a gig refereeing a soccer tournament for the Memorial Day weekend, so Deanie and I decided to use the opportunity for a day trip. We went out to Fitchburg Airport around 9:30 AM and were off the ground around 10:20 AM. We had a strong tailwind, and made it down to Martha's Vineyard in about 20 minutes. After closing up the plane, we caught the bus into Edgartown. As you can see, the day was beautiful (if very windy, but it wasn't turbulent at all in the air).

We wandered aimlessly for a while, and then got some brunch in a small restaurant. We then hung out near the wharf on some benches, reading and relaxing in the sun.

After a couple hours, we wandered back to the bus stop and promptly let the bus to the airport depart without us, thinking it was the wrong one. After waiting for it for 10 minutes, we figured out what we did, and then caught a taxi back to the airport for $15 (instead of the $1 each for the bus).

Around 3:15 PM, we took off from the Vineyard and landed back in Fitchburg around 4:00 PM. We tied the plane down, put the cover on, and drove to Framingham (which we had flown over not 1/12 hour earlier) and picked up Zach after his last game.

Not a bad day.....
